The ceremony in Donje Medjurovo, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen, marked the beginning of works on modernization and rehabilitation of the Niš-Brestovac line on the international railway Corridor 10, as well as the signing of the Agreement between Corridor Serbia and Consortium. A 23 km railway is being built in Donje Medjurovo European Union. It is a huge amount of money for us, a great incentive and respect. This railway and the road are important for us, they are important for Europe.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Layen, pointed out that Serbia has already come a long way towards EU membership, that it has made incredible progress and commitment in recent years, and improved conditions in various sectors. She said that she strongly supports Serbia’s European integration. “This is a very special moment. The signing of this agreement is a symbol of our great cooperation and connection projects through which we jointly build our European future because the future of Serbia is better in the European Union. The corridor connects Serbia with Austria and Greece and is really the driver of the economy. This is a driver for the Serbian economy, investments, an economic plan that is already functioning in Serbia, “said the President of the European Commission.

These investments, which are being realized on the territory of the Palilula Municipality, were also pointed out by the President of the Municipality, Bratislav Vuckovic, who attended this ceremony, and they are very important for our further development.

A council of Bulgarian companies “Trace Holding PLC” and “Balkantel” was chosen as the contractors for the modernization and reconstruction of the Nis-Brestovac railway. According to the announcement, the total deadline for the preparation of documentation, ie design and works is 1,005 days, and the deadline for the completion of the entire work is June 2023.
