    His Eminence Bishop of Nis G.G. Arsenije. served the great consecration of the temple and then the Holy Hierarch’s Liturgy in the church of St. Petka in the City Municipality of Palilula-Nis, October 27, on the feast of the Venerable Mother Paraskeva – St. Petka. This event was attended by the President of Palilula Municipal Assembly, Nikola Božić, the Deputy President of the Municipality, Lazar Dinić, as well as members of the Municipal Council of Palilula.

    Among the numerous present guests, the liturgy was attended by the Mayor of Nis, Dragana Sotirovski, and the President of the Assembly of the City of Nis, Boban Džunić. “Sveta Petka” was also celebrated with prayers in the church in Gornje Medjurovo in the municipality of Palilula. The construction of the church of St. Petka started after many years of preparations in 2012. At that time, the existing location was approved and building permits were obtained. The Church signed an Agreement on joint construction with the city, where the City undertook to provide land and the Church to provide funds for construction.

    After the construction of the external dimensions of the temple, it is contained in the contract, the City will donate the land to the Diocese of Nis. Palilula Municipality has very good cooperation with the Orthodox Diocese of Nis and financially supports certain investment and program activities of the Church. The amphitheater in front of the temple for holding outdoor programs was recently completed.
