    LEONI FACTORY STARTS WORKING IN NIŠ

    LEONI, the leading European manufacturer of cable and cable systems for automotive and other industries, was opened in Niš on the territory of the City Municipality of Palilula, the third factory in Serbia, in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. The value of this investment is 22 million euros, and the factory will employ 2,200 workers in full capacity and will cover more than 20,000 square meters.

    “Germany is probably the biggest investor in Serbia this year, which shows that we have managed to establish firm relations with the most developed European economy and we can show friendship to those coming from Germany,” said Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia. The work of the first phase of the new factory Leoni in Nis, this company will find an economic interest in the future and open another, its fourth factory in Serbia.

    “A year ago when the idea to open a factory in Nis was here, the country was in restitution, many jobs were difficult to find or solve. However, after talking with Vucic, administrative obstacles have been removed and today we are here in the magnificent hall of “Leoni” with the first stage completed. We are ready and able to follow German companies, their dynamics and procedure. We need to take care of our city and never miss a chance again, “said the mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic in the introductory words.

    Leoni intends to expand business in Serbia, said the executive vice president of Leoni, R. Maus. “We intend to grow and expand our business in Serbia. I can not promise that there will be new factories in Serbia very soon, but based on the experience here and Serbia’s willingness to change things, we can promise that we will come again,” Maus said at the opening ceremony of the new factory Leoni in Nis. Maus said he is very proud that he can convey congratulations to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. “The most important people are people who work in our factories. We laid a foundation stone here on February 24th. I’m very impressed with what was done in a short time. According to Ralf Maus, Leon will open four new factories in the world this year – a factory in Morocco, now a factory in Nis, in September in Ukraine and in November in Mexico, was opened in May. We have never had so many new development projects. Today, more than 70,000 people work for Leoni around the world, we are expanding towards Asia and we are getting new customers in Europe.

    General Manager of Leoni in Serbia Clemmence Sachse welcomed everyone at the opening ceremony of the Leoni factory in Nis and stressed that the whole job from the contract to the beginning of production was completed in just one year. Sachse specifically addressed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who also put into operation production in Nis-Leoni, and reminded that together seven months ago they were in this place where there was nothing and that the joint work was achieved that the factory was ready and started production. He thanked the contractors for which he said that they had complied with all the requirements, all the deadlines and quality required of them, as well as the cooperation of the local management in Leonie with the company’s management in Germany.
