In the suburbs and rural settlements of Palilula Municipality, the maintenance and construction of water supply, sewage and road networks continue to be a major problem. Some rural settlements in the municipality have local rural waterworks that are not connected to the City water supply and the locals themselves care about the regularity in the work process.

In order to protect the health of the inhabitants in these villages, activity on reconstruction of the existing network and agreement with JKP “Naisus” on taking over of the entire water supply system is realized. Gabrovac and Mramor residents almost two years ago signed signatures to the Contract, which takes care of the rural water supply into the jurisdiction of the Public Utility Company Naisus. By this contract, JKP Naisus did not take over the ownership of the rural waterworks, but only the networking and water quality area. The losses were reduced, which amounted to even 60 percent.

Discussion on the implementation of the existing model of partnership of the Council of Citizens with JKP Naisus started these days in the village Krušce. President of the Municipality of Palilula, Aleksandar Ždrale, in the first meeting with locals, explained that favorable conditions have been created for the village residents this year to completely solve the supply of their households with healthy drinking water. City of Nis, Municipality of Palilula and JKP Naisus in cooperation with the Council of citizens of Krusce, through partnership, will also provide solutions to the problem of part of the remaining debt for water. Support for villagers in the second altitude zone who were not able to use the existing water supply network a few years ago was also missing. The Municipality of Palilula then donated a tank to this village and provided the necessary isolation of the pool. In cooperation with the Institute of Public Health of the Municipality of Palilula, it also provided cleaning and disinfection of water reservoirs in order to use safe drinking water from this water supply system.

Partnership with JKP Naisus, with very favorable contractual obligations, would ensure quality and safe maintenance of the water supply network and what is the most important supply of health-efficient drinking water.
