    INCREASING THE ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE CITIZENS -WE CHANGE THE STATE ON THE FIELD

    On the occasion of the global ecological activity of the Clean up the World, last weekend, 15-16 September 2018, the cleaning activities were organized also in Palilula Municipality in Nis, cleaning of the wild landfill on the site in the “Crvena Zvezda” settlement on the direction from the PMF – Faculty of Mathematics (Gabrovac road, first part). The President of Palilula, Aleksandar Ždrale, also participated in the cleaning activities with the volunteers.

    “One of the four main development priorities of Palilula Municipality is also a strategic goal – environmental protection. These activities encourage us to talk responsibly about current environmental issues in our settlements, preserving biodiversity, environmentally sound behavior, saving energy and applying renewable energy sources, climate change issues; co-operation and networking in the field of environmental protection. By raising the environmental awareness of citizens, we have made the situation on the ground change. We also focused on young people. Students from primary and secondary schools, students, from the territory of the Municipality of Palilula in Nis, actively participate in our projects, which encourages, said the President of Palilula.

    According to Milan Marinković, associates at the Youth Center GO Palilula, such activities influence the quality of life in our settlements, as they encourage residents to take responsibility for the situation in their living and working environment and affect the environment itself. The disposal of waste from the wild landfill was carried out with the partner organization JCI Niš, members of the citizens’ association “Working Delegation Delijski Vis” and the residents of the settlement. The collected waste was removed by the mobile team JKP “Mediana”. This activity of the young people form Palilula was supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Municipal Municipality of Palilula and the Media Ecological Network of Serbia EKOpolis.
