The Sixth National Conference of the Women’s Parliamentary Network, supported by the OSCE Mission and UNDP in Serbia, was held on October 19, 2018 in the House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. Members of the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and MPs of the AP Vojvodina and Kosovo and Metohija, members of more than one hundred assembly of towns and municipalities in Serbia, representatives of state institutions, international organizations and missions, non-governmental organizations, as well as special guests from Montenegro and Algeria took part. From Palilula Municipality, the participants of the conference were Jadranka Kocić and Jelena Barton.
According to the organizers, the main goals of the Women’s Parliamentary Network are adoption of new laws and policies and supervision of the implementation of the current legal solutions. especially in the area of women’s and family health, the suppression of violence against women. as well as the suppression of domestic violence, economic empowerment of women, education of women.
The sixth conference, organized under the motto “Women build the future”, looked at the topics: “The effects of digitization on gender equality”: “Perspectives for empowering women and greater participation in the process”, “Climate change and gender equality” and “The goals of a sustainable development and women “. The topic of “Gender Equality in Serbia” was discussed in three working groups: “Discrimination against women in employment”, “Violence against women: Effects of implementation of the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence”, and Working Group 3, Participation of Women in the Political, economic and public life “. The results and recommendations of the working groups are presented in the final part of the conference and will be made available to the public.
