After the successfully realized autumn action “Plant your shade” in Palilula Municipality, during which 1,600 seedlings of “white ash” were distributed, the citizens showed even greater interest in the spring action. In addition to free seedlings, which were provided in cooperation with the “Green Development Center” in Sremska Mitrovica, the Municipality of Palilula, according to President Bratislav Vuckovic, has the opportunity to set up one of 30 stations for automatic air quality measurement on its territory.

The measuring stations to be donated are equipped with sensors for reading the concentration of PM 2.5 and PM 10 particles, in real-time, with an accuracy of 99%. Citizens can access the reading of the results through a mobile application specially made for each municipality.

In addition to quality parameters, measuring stations also measure standard meteorological parameters. The value of the donated equipment is around 20,000 euros, and the local self-government should provide the location and conditions for installation, connection to the power source and regular maintenance, which, in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty, is provided by our experts.

The realization of this project, according to the president of the NGO “Green Development Center”, Predrag Ratic, provides citizens with a realistic insight into air quality, and the Municipality of Palilula – the City of Nis the way to the status of GREEN CITY.

In addition to installing the equipment, the donation includes the distribution of new free “white ash” seedlings to citizens. The number of donated seedlings is 1% of the population. As before, the places where planting is allowed will be determined in cooperation with the professional services of the local self-government units, about which the citizens will be informed. This project is in line with the European New Deat, in which clean air in urban areas is one of the pillars of the circular economy and is supported by numerous institutions. (EKOpolis, D. Vidojković)
