The new leadership of Palilula Municipality, as promised by the President of the Municipality Bratislav Vuckovic, is solving the priority requests on the ground.
In Donji Vlase, with the locals, the president and representative of the Citizens’ Council, Desko Nikolić and Goran Mišić, on Tuesday, November 24, a joint action of arranging and repairing the road leading to the water reservoir was agreed, as well as repairing the captage at the foot of Selicevica mountain.
“I believe that the decades-long problem of water supply will be mitigated in this way until the final solution, which implies a connection to the city water supply system,” president Bratislav Vuckovic pointed out. For several years, the village of Donje Vlase has been in the new development program of the municipality of Palilula. Citizens’ meetins were held, key infrastructural problems of this environment were discussed, such as local water supply, sewerage, maintenance of road infrastructure, lighting. The necessary unity of the inhabitants around determining the priorities for further development of the village was missing. The agreement with the new President of the Municipality of Palilula and the expected support of the City of Nis for the development of rural areas inspires optimism that young people will return to the homes of their parents and grandparents in this populated place of the municipality of Palilula, and return to our villages.
The village of Donje Vlase is located eight kilometers from Nis. It is mentioned for the first time only on the eve of the liberation from the Turks, when there was the lordship of Djordje and Manojlo Kranalic, and its inhabitants were mostly engaged in cattle breeding and cutting (selling) wood. In 1878, the village had 26 households and 185 inhabitants. After the liberation from the Turks, the population turned more to agriculture and migrant work, and from the fifties of the last century to working occupations. From the middle of the fifties of the 20th century, the mass emigration of the people of Donjovlaša to the Kovanlučka valley began. In 1948, there were 580 inhabitants in 98 households in Donji Vlase. At the beginning of the third millennium, 152 inhabitants were registered in the village in 2002, and according to the 2011 census, 254 inhabitants were registered in Donji Vlas. (D. Vidojković)
