All watercourses in the area of the City of Niš are in significant decline so that the situation on the whole City area is much more favorable than last weekend, said at the press conference on May 5 in the City Hall, the deputy mayor of Niš, Dr. Miloš Banjđur. He said that Nisava fell by 30 centimeters in relation to the maximum reached for the weekend, and that the rivers flowing into the South Moravia were also declining.
President of the Municipality of Palilula, Aleksandar Zdrale, said that last weekend there were problems with torrential waters in the village Gabrovac and with groundwaters in Novo Selo, and today there is a threat of the outflow of the South Morava in the village Lalinac.
“Due to the appearance of groundwaters in Novo Selo two houses were flooded. This settlement has a flood problem, because most of the settlements have septic tanks that spill over into heavy rainfall, groundwaters. Also, the locals contribute to the poor condition by covering the waste of the channels used for drainage of atmospheric waters, “said Ždrale. He reminded that the representatives of the Municipality of Palilula, together with City public utility companies, primarily “Mediana” and “Naissus”, took all the measures in order to normalize the situation on the ground as soon as possible.
President of the Municipality of Crveni krst – Milan Milutinovic, President of the Municipality of Pantelej-Bratimir Vasiljevic, the member of the Council of the City Municipality of Niska Banja Milos Milenkovic and representatives of the City Municipality of Mediana spoke also about the situation in the field.
