    MEMORIAL SERVICE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE APRIL 8 BOMBING OF NIŠ 1941

    Anniversary was marked at the Old Cemetery “Gorica” ​​in Nis, where is situated the common grave of the victims of the April 8 bombing of Nis in the Second World War. After the memorial service, wreaths were laid by representatives of the Serbian Army, the City of Nis, the Nisava Administrative District, the police, the City Municipality of Palilula, Pantelej, Niska Banja, Mediana, the Association of Fighters, the Circle of Serbian Sisters, and the Association of Creators of Nis. On behalf of the City Municipality of Palilula, on whose territory the Old Cemetery is located, the President of the Municipality Bratislav Vuckovic, and members of the Municipal council Jovica Ralic and Predrag Petrovic bowed to the fallen victims.

    In the destructive rage of fascist Germany against Serbia in the Second World War, only in the April bombing of the civilian population of Nis, more than eight decades ago, about 400 citizens were killed and 500 were slightly or seriously wounded. Bombs destroyed many buildings in a short time, and citizens were killed in houses, on the street, in the hospital. All of them were buried in the Old Cemetery in Nis in a common grave.
