    MEASURES FOR PREVENTING THE INCREASE AND DISSEMINATION OF CORONA-INFECTIOUS VIRUS BY EMPLOYEES AND USERS OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISE SERVICES

    COVID-19 is a respiratory infectious disease caused by the new corona virus (SARS – CoV2). This new virus and disease was unknown until December 2019 when an epidemic broke out in the city of Wuhan, China. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause disease in animals or humans. Corona viruses are known in humans to lead to respiratory infections, ranging from the common cold to serious illnesses and death.

    How is COVID-19 expanding?

    COVID-19 is spread by direct contact with the respiratory droplets of the infected person (caused by coughing and sneezing) and by touching the areas contaminated with the virus, and then by touching the face (eg eyes, nose, mouth). The risk of infection with COVID-19 virus is higher in persons in close contact with the infected, e.g. household members. The virus can survive on the surface for several hours to several days even though simple disinfectants destroy it.

    What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

    Patients with COVID-19 may have mild to severe respiratory illnesses with symptoms: fever (above 38 ° C), cough and shortness of breath. In heavier onescases (about 20%) can develop pneumonia, and less often the disease can be deadly. These symptoms are similar to those of the flu or common cold that are much more common than COVID-19 and this is why testing is necessary to confirm this disease.

    Who is most at risk?

    Older people (over 65 years of age) and people with chronic illnesses (diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, malignancies, etc.) have a higher risk of developing severe COVID-19. So far, there are few COVID-19 cases reported among children.

    How is COVID-19 treated?

    There is currently no cure for this disease or vaccine, and medical examinations are ongoing. However, many symptoms can be treated.

    How to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

    As with other respiratory infections, the most important preventative measures are:
    Home isolation of the sick;
    Covering the mouth and nose with a handkerchief or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing;
    Avoiding touching the face (eyes, nose and mouth)
    Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water;
    Cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and objects most commonly touched.
