Food packages and wardrobe, collected on a humanitarian football match between the veterans FK Palilulac from Nis and FK Palilulac from Belgrade, on the field of ŽFK “Mašinac” got 15 of the most endangered families from Niš.

Humanitarian action was organized last weekend (June 3rd) as part of the traditional manifestation “Palilula night”, supported by the Municipality of Palilula. Part of the collected aid was donated by companies and catering establishments, and part of it was brought by the citizens themselves, as a charity match for tickets. Director of the Center for Social Work in Nis, Zoran Jovic, says that the most endangered families to whom the aid is distributed is selected according to the professional criteria of this institution.

“We had a scheduled match between veterans of the two clubs so we decided to be humanitarian in order to help the most vulnerable in Nis. This is not a big help, but I’m sure it means to them. If other clubs, organizations and sections were organized in this way, more help could be gathered for the socially endangered fellow citizens, said one of the veterans and legends of Nis football, Miodrag Stoiljkovic. Goran Stevanovic, veteran of FK Mašinac, says that about two tons of food and clothing have been collected and that he hopes that such activities will continue in the future with the Municipality of Palilula with which they have established excellent cooperation. Mayor of the Municipality of Palilula, Marija Brajdic, says that as a local self-government they merely merged the people of the of the good will, from which this humanitarian initiative came from.

“We have become an example of good practice how local self-government can co-operate with citizens’ associations, business associations and the sphere of the sector. We showed the human gestures in this way and tried to help those who have much less of us in this way, said Brajdic. “I live with social assistance with eight children, so this help means a lot to us, says Dobruna Ćerimović, one of the women who received help.
