Niš Culture Center NKC held a panel discussion on the draft paper on Youth Strategy of Palilula Municipality with the Action Plan 2018-2022. Participants of the gathering, among whom there were representatives of the Youth Office of the City of Nis – Municipality of Palilula, student parliaments of educational institutions, civil society organizations, were welcomed by Marija Brajdic, Head of the Municipal Administration.

She pointed out that they are young cariers of the development of the Municipality of Palilula. “We have clearly stated this in our Municipal Development Strategy. Within the limits of our possibilities, as a unit of the local self-government of the City of Niš, we advocate the active participation of young people in all segments of social life through increased understanding for the needs of young people, and faster integration of young people by taking active participation, Brajdić pointed out. Youth Strategy 2018-2022. – Municipality of Palilula is a document that places young people not only as subjects of youth policy but also as actors responsible for planning, realization, monitoring and evaluation of the it. Their problems and ways of solving them, expectations and hopes related to the present and the future, are translated into the priorities, goals, measures and activities of Palilula Municipal Youth Strategy.

The goal of this forum, as expected by the organizers, was to hear the voice of young people living on the territory of Palilula Municipality, in an open conversation to learn more about the situation of youth in this environment, problems in education, employment, security, interests, these findings are translated into concrete measures within the framework of the Municipal Youth Strategy, which in the coming period will be the basis for activities aimed at improving the status of youth. According to the 2011 census, 14,435 young people live in Palilula Municipal area which is about 20 percent of the total population living in the Palilula.
