On the occasion of the Day of Liberation of the City of Nis from the Turks, at the meeting of the City Assembly held in St Sava Hall, prominent individuals and organizations were awarded the highest recognition of the City of Nis – Award “11. January “.
In the competition of the collective, the winners of the award are the Club of Businessmen Naisus, the Collective of the 63rd Parachute Brigade of the Serbian Army and the Center for Social Work “Saint Sava” Nis. In the competition of individuals, the winners are Dragan Stojković Piksi, the selector of the Serbian national football team, and Dr. Milan Lazarević, a doctor at the Clinic for Cardiovascular Diseases in Niš.
At the session of the City Parliament, the President of the City Assembly of Nis, Dr. Boban Džunić, and the Mayor of Niš, Dragana Sotirovski, presented the awards to the laureates. The President of the City Municipality of Palilula, Bratislav Vuckovic, also participated in the work of the solemn session of the Assembly. The award, which was established in 1995, includes a diploma, a statuette “To the Liberators of Nis” and a sum of 500,000 dinars.
The winners of the recognition were decided on the basis of the received proposals by the City of Nis Awards Commission, which, in addition to the President of the City Assembly of Nis and the Mayor of Nis, also includes representatives of the Nis Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the University of Nis and the Serbian Army Command.
