Rasim Ljajić, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications opened in Niš 3.Forum of advanced technologies. Ljajic said that estimates says that in Serbia, by 2020, 50,000 new jobs can be opened in the IT sector. “We already have a lack and need for some of 15,000 IT experts. According to the estimates of the European Commission by the year 2020, 800,000 IT experts will be missing. ” The significance of IT companies for the world economy is best illustrated by the fact that the value of the five largest IT companies like Microsoft, Facebook is even two and a half times higher than the gross domestic product of all Southeast European countries. In the last two years, the growth of IT entrepreneurs has increased by 74% in Serbia, and in the southeast of the country it is 102%, said Rasim Ljajić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in Nis.
This significant gathering, which gathered more than 40 companies, scientific and educational institutions that are engaged in the development of high and innovative technologies, is being held from October 17th to October 19th at the Office House. According to Prof.Dr. Goran Djordjevic, assistant Mayor of Nis for science and advanced technologies, the general goal of the forum is to present the economic, scientific, educational and personnel potentials of the City of Nis, the region and Serbia in the field of advanced technologies. We believe that by organizing this year’s event, we will all make a step closer to the development of our city, region and country as a whole – said the Mayor of Nis, Darko Bulatovic, who also invited all interested parties to support the city on the path of positioning in the field of advanced technologies.
General Manager of Telekom Srbija Predrag Ćulibrk, announced at the opening of the Forum that this company will invest 200 million euros in the basic infrastructure for the next two years, and the largest part of this amount will be invested in optical infrastructure. In the city of Nis, Ćulibrk added, Telekom will invest four million euros in infrastructure by the middle of next year. “These investments in infrastructure will provide better services, will create preconditions for the arrival of investors and enable a better life of citizens,” Ćulibrk said.
Aleksandar Zdrale, president of Palilula Municipality, also visited the participants of the Advanced Technology Forum. Palilula is a territory where until the beginning of the new millennium, large economic systems (like the Electric Industry) worked. Today, in the Municipality of Palilula, thanks to the support of the Government of Serbia, new factories like Leoni and Zumtobel are being built and conditions for employment of young professional staff are created.
The advanced technology forum will be opened until Thursday, October 19th, and within this event will be organized the traditional Serbian Economists Advisory and the International Telecommunications Conference “Telsiks”.

Within the Forum of Advanced Technologies Association for Industrial Heritage Promotion and Promotion of Advanced Technologies and Association of Creators Nis, organized the Exhibition of Old Products of the Electronic Industry under the name “Niš- city of electronics through time”
