    MEMORIAL TRIBUTE TO THE GREAT WAR SOLDIERS IN FRONT OF THE MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN PLAQUE IN MONASTERY `HOLLY TRINITY` IN GABROVAC VILLAGE

    On the occasion of marking of 100 years since the end of the First World War, wreaths were laid and honored by the warriors of the Balkan and World War I who died or died in the period 1912-1918, from Gabrovac, Berbatovo, Vukmanovo, Donje Vlase, Suvi Dol and Brzi Brod. and whose names are on the Memorial plaque-fountain in the port of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Gabrovac. The priest of the Holy Trinity Monastery, Predrag Djokic, held parastos for the fallen victims of the Great War. People from villages from the municipality of Palilula, as well as representatives of local authorities and associations, paid tribute.

    Following the intonation of the anthem of the Republic of Serbia, all present were greeted by the President of Palilula Municipality Aleksandar Ždrale. “Palilula Municipality, together with the Council of Citizens of Gabrovac village and associations of descendants, warriors of the First World War, traditionally marks this day, said the President of Palilula. This is a symbolic act, but it is our obligation to recall and pay our tribute to soldiers and citizens who gave their lives for the freedom that we live today long ago in the liberation wars.

    By this act we send a message to younger generations sometimes that they have to sacrifice something for the homeland and freedom of our people, as our ancestors did, and all for better tomorrow.One of the organizers of the gathering, Zivorad Todorovic from Gabrovac, a retired colonel, who is himself a descendant of one of the warriors of World War I, said: “Today, we bow down to these ancestors of our ancestors, our grandfathers. The citizens who attend this gathering are descendants of fallen warriors, and each of them is proud of it. ” The great jubilee, the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, was also marked by the pupils of elementary school “Branko Radičević” in the Gabrovac program.

    On the Memorial plaque – memorial fountain of the monastery “Holy Trinity” in the village of Gabrovac, which was built in 1923, 188 names of people were written who gave their lives for the freedom of the Serbian people.
