On Gradsko polje area, on the plateau next to Elektonic faculty, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Šarčević, Mayor of Niš Darko Bulatović, Director of the European Investment Bank for the Western Balkans Dubravka Negreć and Rector of the Niš University prof. dr Dragan Antić, by the action of putting the foundation stone, marked the beginning of the construction of the Science and Technology Park of 14,000 square meters. President of the Municipality of Palilula, Aleksandar Ždrale, was also present among numerous officials, at this ceremony.
This investment, worth about 10 million euros, with an additional million euros for equipment, makes a unique whole with the Innovation Center at the University and the Start-up Center at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering. It will be the only technology park that will get quality and modern equipment for innovative research in the beginning. Construction starts now and ends in 14 months, “said Sarcevic. According to him, investments in science and technology parks in Nis, Belgrade and Novi Sad reach 100 million euros.
“The link between education, science and economy leads to a happy combination that technological knowledge is in the function of the development of society so that young people see their chance here,” Minister Šarčević emphasized.
Dubravka Negre, director of the European Investment Bank for the Western Balkans, pointed out at the foundation, that the bank supports the Government of Serbia’s decision to invest in science and research so that those who are the most valuable, smartest and most educated are staying in the country and contributing to becoming a leader in the region.
