Gradska opstina Palilula

In the framework of the initiative for establishing environmental dialogue and local development at the Sava Center in Belgrade, on October 24th, a meeting was held entitled “Planning and Prioritizing Projects at the Local Level”. This activity was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government in cooperation with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.

On the planning and prioritization of projects at the local level, the participants of the the discussion were: Goran Trivan, Minister of Environmental Protection; Branko Ružić, Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government; Tanja Miscevic, Head of the Negotiating Team for Negotiating the Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, and Darko Bulatovic, President of the SCTM. Mirjana Ćojbašić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, was the introductory speaker of the Budget Planning and Reporting Plan. On behalf of the City Municipality of Palilula – Nis, the meeting was attended by Vojkan Trickovic, environmental adviser for the employees of the Municipality.

The goal of organizing this meeting is to familiarize local self-government units with the priorities of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and, through the reform process carried out by the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, providing the support to Municipalities and Cities in order to be able to give their full contribution to meeting the obligations in the process Serbia’s accession to the European Union, as well as to improve its services to citizens in the field of environmental protection.

This meeting enabled representatives of local self-government units to present their views on upcoming challenges and proposals to overcome the expected difficulties in the process, as well as to provide suggestions on the mechanisms of support they expect from the national level. Darinka Radojević from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Đorđe Staničić, Secretary General of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, explained the conclusions and agreement on the mechanisms for further cooperation.
