On the occasion of the Day of liberation of Nis from the Turks, a delegation of the City Municipality of Palilula, led by Aleksandar Zdrale, the president of the Municipality, laid a wreath at a liberators memorial in the City center.
On this occasion, after the Cty Government members leadership , the representatives of the districts, the army, the police and associations, who foster the tradition of the liberation wars of Serbia, also laid the wreaths.
Niš was liberated on January 11, 1878, and after nearly five hundred years Serbian flag was put on the walls of the Nis fortress . Knjaz -Prince Milan Obrenovic then shouted in front of the fortress: “This flag for us is a sign that every citizen, whatever religion he is, can count on the blessed protection of the prince. I salute you as an advocate of justice, as a defense counsel for freedom equal to all citizens, for all religions. “
