    PRESIDENT OF SERBIA IN NIŠ TO OPEN THE “ZUMTOBEL” FACTORY

    More than a thousand citizens of Nis and the region welcomed the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, in front of the Zumtobel factory in Nis, where the president of the state addressed the participants on the occasion of the opening of this Austrian factory in Nis.

    In just over a year after the laying of the foundation stone, in July 2017, the construction of the new Zumtobel Group (Zumtobel Group) in Nis was completed in the work area of “Viticulture Institute” in the Municipality of Palilula. “When we started negotiations with Zumtobel, it seemed so far. When you see today how many people will be employed – you know that this is important for Niš and the entire district. This factory in Nis will have an annual turnover of 120 million euros, which will be of great importance for the whole of Serbia. Vucic said that 55 percent of this year’s investments in the region is in Serbia and that severe measures have been taken to create conditions for new investments and opening new factories.

    “We are all doing this to ensure the future for children, and it is possible to open new factories because they are stable public finances,” he told the gathered citizens. In the next few years, we will increase salaries and pensions in order to start returning people from abroad, “said President Aleksandar Vucic. After this addressed, the President of Serbia opened officially the Zumtobel factory in Nis in the new hall. In the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, presenters and media representatives also addressed the General Director of “Zumtobel” Alfred Felder, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the factory Jurg Zumtobel, the federal minister of Austria for the EU Gernot Bluemel, the president of the PKS and the Mayor of Nis, Darko Bulatovic. The President of the Municipality of Palilula Aleksandar Ždrale and his associates also attended this ceremony.

    The factory for the production of LED lighting, which already has 300 employees, and when it starts production with full capacity, will have 1.100 people, with a total area of 40,000 square meters. The Austrian company Zumtobel invested EUR 30.6 million in this investment. The Serbian government gave subsidies of eight million euros. Zumtobel is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of LED lighting. They employ about 7,000 workers in 14 production plants, and sales facilities in 90 countries.
