The day of the liberation of the City of Nis in the Second World War was an occasion to visit the memorials to the fallen patriots. Wreaths were laid in the Memorial Park “Bubanj”, where the fascists shot more than 10 thousand citizens, brought from the Death Camp at the Red Cross. The delegation of the City of Nis, the Serbian Army, the Ministry of the Interior Affairs, the Veterans’ Association, the Nisava Administrative District, Palilula City Municipality and the delegation of Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center, the Association for Nurturing the Traditions of the Serbian Liberation Wars paid tribute to the executed victims.
On behalf of Palilula Municipality, where this memorial complex is located, the wreath was laid by the President of the Municipality Bratislav Vuckovic and the Deputy President Lazar Dinic.
The battles for the liberation of Nis in the Second World War, the so-called “Nis operation”, began on October 8, 1944 at 8 o’clock. With the entry of the 22nd Division of the People’s Liberation Movement into the city, on October 14, 1944. The city of Nis was liberated.
