The team of the Public Health Institute Nis, in cooperation with the representatives of the Administration of the City Municipality of Palilula, visited the devastated area of the settlement “9.Maj” (Novo Selo) and the village “Milka Protić” on March 12th. Supervision was carried out on the part of the flooded territory in the scope of “A review” for all parameters that are worked on at the Public Health Institute in Niš, which will draft a report with a proposal of measures. Due to the spillage of septic tanks and the pouring of sewage from the City landfill into the arable area in the flooded area and the vulnerability of the wells and water supply network, the Emergency Response Station urgently reacted and the consequences of the floods were resolved.
These activities include City public utility companies and Municipal inspection of the Municipality of Palilula. According to the Palilula president Aleksandar Ždrale, who is constantly present on the ground, the water flooded more than fifty residential buildings. The weather forecast is not favorable for the time until the end of the week, so it is necessary to be careful and follow the development of the situation.
