With the blessing of His Grace of the Bishop of Nis, G.G. Arsenije, in the full hall of the Army House in Nis, St Sava Academy was held on Thursday, January 25, beginning at 19:00. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking and timeless holy fathers, the adviser of the Directorate for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities, Mr. Miroljub Radosavljevic, Head of the Nisava Administrative District Mrs. Dragana Sotirovski, Mayor of Nis,. Darko Bulatovic, President of the Assembly of the City of Nis Mr. Rade Rajkovic, Commander of the Land Army, Lt. Col. Milosav Simovic, President of Matica Srpska Professor Dr. Dragan Stanic, Director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Mrs. Mirjana Andric, Palilula Municipality President – Aleksandar Ždrale, representatives of the University of Niš, as well as educational and cultural institutions of the City of Niš and representatives of the gendarmerie and police of the Republic of Serbia and numerous citizens who filled this hall to the last place.
The Niš church singing group “Branko”, conducted by Ms. Sara Cincarevic, performed Don Despotin at the very beginning of the Academy, while the Military Orchestra performed `Boze pravde` conducted by Dejan Djordjevic and together with “Branko” Church Singing group. His Grace Archbishop Arsenije addressed the audience with the words that the great Serbian prince Rastko Nemanjić went out of the warm father’s house one night to fulfill the words of Christ: “If anyone wants to go after me, let him renounce himself and take up the Holy Cross and follow me.” Saint Sava was not the first to plant seeds of the Christ in the Serbian family and nation, but he was the first who seeded seed, watered, fenced, sprinkled and thus provided a good fruit, said among other things Archbishop Arsenije.
