By a solemn program in the form of ambient school time lesson, prepared by Professor Tanja Cekic and laying a wreath at the Bubanj Memorial Center, the students and teachers of the Bubanjski Heroji School of Elementary School marked the Liberation Day of Nis in the Second World War.
This program, organized in memory of 10 thousand citizens killed by the fascists on “Bubanj“, was attended by the President of Palilula Municipality Aleksandar Ždrale and his associates. “We gathered today on Bubanj to mark the Liberation Day of Nis. We pay tribute to the famous Bubanj heroes, according to which our school got its name, with laying a wreath and a suitable program of students. Our goal is to preserve the tradition of the school, to show the students the importance of this place, but also to awaken and cherish patriotic feeling and patriotic awareness in them, “said the director of the school Verica Radenkovic. Students of this school sent an antiwar message, a message about the values of the struggle for freedom and its ideals, in their program on Bubanj, along with verses of famous poets, literary works of students and choral performance of the school anthem.
“Our school is proudly named after Bubanj hill heroes. Hill Bubanj covered Niš with its beauty and tragedy of its existence, as a testimony of fascist crime and a place to remember the dead, but also as a symbol of struggle, resistance and victory over fascism …. It should be kept as a sanctuary, we should remember the victims, because we will appreciate the peace and progress that freedom has brought. “Pupils and teachers of the Elementary School” Bubanjski heroji “announced that this event, in cooperation with the City and the Municipal Municipality of Palilula, will be hold every year at the Memorial Park “Bubanj”.
