Dear citizens of Palilula. Today (January 13), according to the Julian calendar, which is respected by the Serbian Orthodox Church, the New Year is celebrated. I want you all to celebrate this day with joy and happiness, in the circle of your families.

The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates the New Year on January 14 according to the old, Julian calendar, with the service of prayers for the God-blessed coming year. Beside Serbian Orthodox Church, the old calendar is also respected by the Russian Orthodox Church, the Jerusalem Orthodox Church and the monastic community on the Sveta Gora.
