As part of the activities of taking into account the quality of life of the inhabitants in the rural area of the municipality of Palilula, the president of the Municipality, Aleksandar Ždrale, spoke with his associates on Thursday, July 19, with the villagers of Donje Vlase. At the Assembly meeting, prepared by the Council of Citizens of the Village, in the premises of the Cultural Center, the key infrastructural problems of this region were discussed. Local plumbing, sewage, maintenance of road infrastructure, lighting, are identified as priorities for solving and investing in further development of the village. The president of Palilula pledged for a greater unity of the inhabitants of certain initiatives and pointed out that the city’s investment in the rural area in 2019, announced by the Mayor of Nis, was significantly higher. It is a chance that we will finally solve many unresolved issues that have been plagued by you for decades, such as water supply, said Aleksandar Ždrale. This will, along with other investment investments, contribute to the development of cattle breeding and fruit growing in this region, and will attract young people to return their lives to the homes of their parents and grandparents and prevent further devastation of rural households.
The village of Donje Vlase is located eight kilometers from Nis. For the first time, it was mentioned only before the liberation from the Turks, when the rulers of Đorđe and Manojl Kranalić were masters, and his inhabitants mainly dealt with cattle breeding and timber (sale) of timber. In 1878, the village had 26 households and 185 inhabitants. After the liberation from the Turks, the population is turning more to agricultural and seafaring, and from the fifties of the last century and to working labour professions. Since the mid-fifties of the 20th century, the mass eviction of Donje Vlase population began into the Kovanlučka valley. In 1948, 580 inhabitants in the village of Donji Vlase lived in 98 households. At the beginning of the third millennium, in 2002, the village numbered 152 inhabitants, and according to the 2011 census, 254 inhabitants were registered in Donje Vlase
