The laying of wreaths on the monument to the fallen Red Army soldiers in Nis, on June 22, marked the 80th anniversary of the attack of fascist Germany on the Soviet Union. The wreaths were laid by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Bocan Kharchenko, the Minister of Innovation and Technological Development, R.S. Nenad Popovic, the delegation of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots in the diaspora and international social cooperation, the delegation of the City of Nis, the delegation of the army, police, as well as Russian-Serbian friendship organizations, associations for nurturing tradition and liberation wars.
On behalf of the Palilula Municipality, the wreath was laid by President Bratislav Vuckovic, and members of the Municipal Council Dusan Pujovic and Sasa Usenovic.
On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, the delegations of the two countries and the City of Nis planted seedlings in the memorial “Park of Remembrance”, and an exhibition of the Moscow Central Museum was opened in the memorial park of the Red Cross camp in Nis, which will last for the next two weeks.
