Gradska opstina Palilula

I congratulate all the citizens of the City Municipality of Palilula in Nis on Statehood Day.

Sretenje is a day that reminds us how Serbs fought heroically for both freedom and democracy. The struggle for national liberation from the Turks, which was started by the leader Karadjordje in 1804 with national unity and great battles, continued with the adoption of the Sretenje Constitution in 1835.
The Sretenje constitution of Serbia was made in the image of the Belgian and French constitutional laws and charters of that time, and it was very liberal and modern. He signaled the beginning of modern European democracy.

Courage and state wisdom, patriotism and democracy, are the achievements of our statehood and further development of Serbia. Long live Serbia!
