    VICTORY DAY – MAY 9 – CELEBRATED IN NIŠ

    ДАН ПОБЕДЕ-9.МАЈ, ОБЕЛЕЖЕН У НИШУ

    The anniversary of the victory over fascism in the Second World War was marked in Niš by laying wreaths on the Monument to the Soviet soldiers killed in the Nis incident and the Monument to the liberators of Nis. After the opening ceremony, the honor column of the “Immortal Regiment” headed to King Milan Square in the city center.

    Wreaths were laid on these memorials by delegations from the City of Niš, the Army Command of the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the Nišava Administrative District, the Police Department in Niš, the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center, the city’s municipalities and delegations of associations that nurture the traditions of the liberation wars.

    On behalf of Palilula Municipality, President Bratislav Vučković laid the wreath with members of the municipal council, with Novica Ralić and Saša Usenović.

    In memory of the victims of fascism during the Second World War, the world and Europe celebrate May 9 – Victory Day. That is the day when Europe Day is celebrated, the day when the present community of European nations was created in 1955. (Photographs by D. Vidojković)
