On the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the liberation of Nis in World War II, wreaths were laid on the Liberation Monument in Kralj Milan Square, in the city center, and in the Bubanj Memorial Complex. Members of the City of Nis delegation led by the Mayor and the President of the City Assembly, representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, the Union of Veterans, the Nisava District, the Association for the Nurturing of the Traditions of the Liberation Wars of Serbia, the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center, laid wreaths at the Monument to the Liberators.
On behalf of Palilula Municipality and President Aleksandar Zdrale, a wreath was laid by Marija Brajdic, Head of the Management Board with associates. Fighting for the liberation of Nis in World War II, the so-called “Nis Operation”, began on October 8, 1944 at 8 p.m. The city of Nis was liberated on October 14, 1944, when the 22nd Division of the Liberation Movement entered the city and attacked German troops.
