Representatives of the City, the Serbian Armed Forces, the Veterans’ Association, the Palilula Municipality, the Nisava District, the Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center and the Association for the Nursing Tradition of the Serbian Liberation Wars paid tribute to the victims at the Bubanj Memorial Park, where more than 10,000 citizens were shot dead by fascists, brought from the Red Cross Death Camp. On behalf of the Palilula Municipality and President Aleksandar Zdrale, a wreath was laid at this memorial complex by Marija Brajdic, Head of Municipal Administration with associates.
Fighting for the liberation of Nis in World War II, the so-called “Nis Operation”, began on October 8, 1944 at 8 p.m. The city of Nis was liberated on October 14, 1944, when the 22nd Division of the Liberation Movement entered the city and attacked German troops.
