Parts of shell bombs and other weapons, propaganda material and photographs created and made during the NATO bombing of Nis in 1999 were exhibited at the Synagogue Gallery in Nis. The exhibition is symbolically opened on Monday, March 25, at 20 hours and 28 minutes, exactly at the time when 20 years ago the first bomb fell to Nis.

While opening the exhibition, the Mayor of Nis, Darko Bulatović, pointed out that “the significance of such an attitude is immeasurable, because it is a document about the history of the suffering of our people and a reminder that such a crime can never be justified or forgotten.”

The author of the exhibition and the catalog is historian Bojana Nesic, curator of the National Museum in Nis. “The setting of the exhibition was created as a homage to these days of suffering, and with the desire not to forget it. The National Museum and numerous associates made it possible to permanently keep from forgetting everything that happened to us in the third millennium.

On the 25th of March 1999, at 20:28, and the last attack on June 4, 300 different missiles were thrown out of Nis.

57 of Nis people were killed, and more than 200 people were injured. 120 pieces were destroyed and more than 3,400 objects were damaged. Visitors to the Gallery “Synagogue” can see the exhibition “Bombing of Niš in 1999” by April 21, on working days, Monday from 10 am to 4 pm and weekends from 10 am to 3 pm.
