The Serbian Orthodox Church marks and celebrates the New Year on January 14th according to the old, Julian calendar, serving the moleban, prayers for Godmother of the coming year. In addition to the Serbian Orthodox Church, the old calendar is respected by the Russian Orthodox Church, the Jerusalem Orthodox Church and the Monastic Community in the Sveta Gora.
